How to get a proposal for your move

To give you an accurate price for your move to Australia, we calculate the exact volume of your goods and check the access situation at your current home.

The most efficient way to do this is with a short video call. You use your smartphone to walk through your house and show us what you want to move. During the call, we also discuss your practical needs, such as packing services, furniture disassembly, or temporary storage.

Transport options for moving to Australia from Spain

We offer three transport options for your move to Australia:

  • Full sea container: A sea container used only for your goods. This is the right option if you move a complete household with furniture, from 8 cubic metres onwards. The transport usually takes about 50 to 60 days from port to port. After arrival, the container undergoes a mandatory quarantine inspection. This takes an extra 2 to 4 weeks before we can plan the final delivery.
  • Groupage sea container (LCL): If you have less volume and only boxes and small furniture, we pack your goods into liftvans (crates). We load these crates into a groupage sea container to Australia. This is a cost-effective option for volumes between 3 and 8 cubic metres. The transport time is similar to a full container.
  • Airfreight: We use this for small shipments up to 1 or 2 cubic metres when the goods need to arrive as fast as possible. Airfreight takes about 1 – 3 weeks to arrive at the destination airport. Australian Customs and quarantine inspections still apply and will add processing time upon arrival.

Please bear in mind that all transit times are estimates. They depend heavily on the availability of shipping containers, space on the ships or flights, and the speed of Customs and Quarantine inspections at your destination.

Biosecurity, fumigation and BMSB season

Australia has strict quarantine rules to protect its environment. The authorities inspect all incoming household goods. You must thoroughly clean all outdoor equipment, bicycles, shoes, and camping gear. You need to remove all soil, mud, and organic matter before our packers arrive.

Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB)

Between 1 September and 30 April, the Australian government applies BMSB seasonal measures to groupage sea container (LCL) shipments. During this period, high-risk goods moving via LCL require a mandatory treatment (like fumigation) before they arrive in Australia. We organize these treatments for your shipment to meet the regulations.

Fumigations for Full Sea Containers (FCL)

Normally, used household goods shipped in a full sea container do not require fumigation. In fact, it is not possible to fumigate a container loaded with household goods in Spain. However, there is a small possibility that the Australian authorities may order a fumigation upon arrival at destination. Should this occur, please be aware that all related costs (including transport, fumigation, handling, and storage) will be billed to the client.

Liftvans

To avoid any issues with ISPM-15 standards and the fumigation of wooden materials, we use specially designed cardboard liftvans for our groupage shipments. Using cardboard instead of wood ensures a smoother customs process and prevents unnecessary quarantine problems at your destination.

Restricted and prohibited items

The Australian authorities restrict or prohibit the import of the following items. This list is a guide. You can find complete information on the Australian Border Force website.

Alcohol

  • You have to pay customs duties and a goods and services tax (GST) on all alcohol imported into Australia.
  • The authorities calculate the duty based on the type of alcohol, the volume per bottle, the alcohol percentage, and the value per bottle.
  • A 10% GST is then added to the calculated duty.

Prohibited items (do not pack)

  • Hazardous goods, hazardous materials, pesticides, and toxic chemicals
  • Firearms, ammunition, replica weapons, and accessories
  • Knives and daggers
  • Live animals or plants
  • Anabolic and androgenic substances (including certain health supplements)
  • Antibiotics, growth hormones, and drugs of human or animal origin
  • Pornography and objectionable materials
  • Counterfeit items or counterfeit credit cards
  • Cat and dog fur products
  • Radioactive substances
  • Ozone depleting substances and synthetic greenhouse gases
  • Electric vehicles (e-bikes, scooters, etc.)
  • Food and perishable items
  • High-powered batteries (Please note: no batteries whatsoever of any kind are allowed in airfreight)
